Best – Liverpool’s legendary first organist and a true virtuoso of the Victorian age. Part of the highly anticipated Minton Tiles Reveal 2026 programme – an event that only takes place once every three years – this special exhibition brings Best’s extraordinary story to life in the beautiful surroundings of the Stable Gallery. Discover how a young prodigy rose to become an international star, captivating audiences with his unmatched skill and showmanship. Through a fascinating collection of rarely seen artefacts and archival treasures from the Royal College of Organists, you’ll gain unique insight into his life, legacy, and lasting influence on British music. Explore handwritten scores, historical documents, and personal items that reveal the man behind the music, and for those eager to delve even deeper, there’s a special opportunity to access exclusive archive materials at Liverpool Central Library, shining new light on this iconic figure. This exhibition is free and open to the public, visitors are welcome from 17th July to 2nd September, from 9:30am to 4:30pm.
